Abstract: | In this project a toolkit and robot for human-robot interaction have been developed. The toolkit is an open source, ROS based, modular software package. The project yields a robust and appealing demo setup, of a robotic head, which is well maintainable, using mostly off-the-shelf parts. The control hardware, a Raspberry Pi, has been embedded in the robot head. The toolkit has been connected to software from the HMI group in a proof-of-concept manner. The toolkit offers functionality such as playing animations, breathing, eye blinking, object tracking, eye saccade tracking and a demonstrational mode. The robot has been succesfully used in presentations and demonstrations, such as on television and for university events. |
