Abstract: | This study measures parental satisfaction with the screening for DDH as performed by the Dutch youth health care. In the cross-sectional design, all measurements were made at one moment in time and moreover data was collected in a retrospective matter, therefore caution is advised in interpreting our results. In addition, information bias should be taken in account, considering parents of redirected children might be able to better recall certain aspects of the screening for DDH. Also, there could be a selection bias: there is a chance people with a positive experience are more likely to participate in this study. Respondents indicated, despite their good rating of the approach to work of youth health care physician, the screening for DDH, information giving and guidance could be improved on the following points: better listening to the parents, refer sooner for further investigation of the hip and a more organized communication between the health care providers. The latter could be achieved by making good cooperation agreements. |
