Abstract:This bachelor thesis deals with the often applied term of poverty-driven migration and question if poverty-driven migration is an actually given phenomenon that is a consequence but also a challenge for the European freedom of movement for workers. To answer that question this thesis will examine how the term of poverty-driven migration was compounded, when people use that term and how it can be defined and analysed scientifically. In addition to that this thesis will consider the methods of different mass media reporting about European migration.
