Abstract:The goal of this bachelor assignment is to create guidelines for the brainstorms of external companies in the Virtual Reality Laboratorium at the University of Twente. This will reduce the uncertainties during brainstorms by providing support during the preparation and the guidance of the brainstorms This bachelor assignment is divided into three parts. First, a ‘general guidelines for brainstorms’ plan was drafted.This is shown in chapter 1. Chapter 2 describes how a ‘improvements for brainstorms in the Virtual Reality Laboratorium’ plan was drafted. The thirt and last chapter describes how a mock-up is designed, which will provide the basics for brainstorms. The first paragraph of the first chapter describes what knowledge is gained during projects of Industrial Design, about the process of getting from a problem to a solution. This knowledge is complemented with knowledge about groupdynamics and brainstorms. With this knowledge, a ‘general guidelines for brainstorms’ plan is drafted in the second paragraph. The shortcomings of these guidelines and the possible prevention of said shortcomings are examined. The outcomes of this examination are added to the guidelines plan. The first paragraph of the second chapter describes the improvements for the brainstorms in the VR-lab. First, the user, their goals, and the influence the goals have on each other are examined. A customer analysis and a facilitator analysis are made to examine if the VR-lab supports the communication between these parties. The present hardware and software are tested if they meet the guidlines that were drafted in the previous chapter. The improvements are brought together in the ‘improvements for brainstorms in the VR-lab’ plan. The second paragraph contains more insight about the possible solution. Firstly, per improvement, the essence of the problem was examined. After that, the essence of the solution was examined along with the way that it could be applied. The first paragraph of chapter three describes the designprocess of the mock-up. First the fulfillable improvements and design focus are determined. I have designed four consecutive mock-ups, in which suggested improvements are processed, which were gathered from the usability tests: - First I have made an interactive PowerPoint, to provide a first impression of possible improvement applications - The interactive PowerPoint is proccessed in an Axure mock-up. This mock-up is tested for its usability. - After this, an analysis is made of situations in which the programm will be used. The suggested imporvements collected from the usability test and the analysis are processed in a Sketchflow mock-up. This mock-up is also tested for its usability. - The suggested improvments collected from this last test are processed in the final Sketchflow mock-up. The second paragraph tests wether the improvements are realised and describes the implementation.
