Abstract: | A case study on processes and layout analysis on a reverse logistics facility for processing packaging and transportation materials. We analysed the current situation on financials, processes, logistics and layout. Further, we compared the current situation to a similar facility in France. The Systematic Layout Planning framework is applied to analyse the current layout and generate alternative layouts. To generate alternative layouts we made a heuristic. The heuristic is a simulated annealing construction algorithm with penalties. We used our heuristic to generate alternative solutions and to evaluate possible scenarios that may occur in the future. The customer is involved to forecasts packaging and transportation material flow in the long-term. To compare the current situation to a theoretical location, we created a green field location of the facility. Finally we propose a roadmap for implementation and sort the improvements on implementability. |
