Abstract:Falco BV is a producer and supplier of street furniture. One of the most important products of Falco are bicycle storages. This assignment is focused on the lockable storages of Falco. A part of the storage is access control. At present Falco offers a limited number of possibilities when it comes to access control. Besides that, the organization is facing a shortage of knowledge when it comes to other possibilities of access control. To inform and advise customers in a better way this knowledge has to be available for those who have this advising role: the sales staff. This led to the main question: What are the possibilities of access control in a bicycle storage and how could this knowledge be clear and usable for Falco. This assignment is executed by identifying access control systems that are suitable for a bicycle storage and by reasoning how these systems could suit potential customers. Eventually an assumption was made of the role Falco could play when it comes to access control in bicycle storages. This role doesn’t have to be limited to just advising and informing customers. Access control systems also offer opportunities to Falco when it comes to supplying and additional sales. Due to the complexity of the market of access control systems, a tool is required to apply the information that was gathered during this research. Because it all starts with advising and informing customers, it had to be clear how the results of the research could be useful for the sales staff. The design and development of an interactive prototype with this purpose will be discussed in the design report.
