| Abstract: | In order to gain more insight in the consumer adoption of electric vehicles the current research focusses on the comparison between an electric vehicle and an internal combustion vehicle made by possible users. This comparison is of importance because the consumer reviews new technologies on the basis of the current technology. By means of a user centered design method and a persona technique, 16 semi structured interviews have been examined. The comparison between an EV and a VMV suggests three different persona’s. The main persona thinks the EV is a good successor of the VMV but beliefs the purchase costs are too high. A second persona is not open to an EV because it is not seen as the better option. The third persona has a lack of knowledge of an EV. This phenomenon occurs with almost all the participants and suggest that people don’t have enough knowledge of an EV. A follow-up study should be done on how to improve knowledge of an EV. This could influence the opinion people have of an EV. |
