Abstract:Lighting-as-a-Service (LaaS) is a valuable new development in the lighting industry. Managing such an offering is a complex task. This research aims to investigate this development and propose new valuable software functionalities that can be added to a light management system and have value in the Lighting-as-a-Service industry. By performing a literature review and conducting interviews in the market, Lighting-as-a-Service is investigated. A maturity model is proposed as well as the definition and implications of this business model. Opportunities within this LaaS market are identified and relevant new software is designed that can grab these opportunities. Furthermore, with the opportunities and characteristics identified, a reference architecture was proposed that indicates what is needed of a management system if it wants to accurately control, analyse and monitor a Lighting-as-a-Service offering. It can be used as a blue print for future Lighting-as-a-Service management systems.
