Abstract: | The aim of this research is to exploit the different possibilities of handling camera input with the Gumstix for the purpose of image processing. Multiple input sources will be compared for speed and load on the processor. After that the dedicated video hardware will be exploited for heavy calculations to offload the processor. The context of this research is to expand the design space exploration of the ESL course. The imaging subsystem, now, is restricted only to a USB webcam connected to the Gumstix. Also other setups at RaM might benefit from other ways to interface a camera to the Gumstix. For example the humanoid-head project which uses two cameras as eyes. |
