Abstract: | Demcon is developing a tool which will be used to place a lead on the outside of the heart. This tool will be used in the video assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) procedure. The current tool used in this procedure isn’t developed for VATS and has a lot of things that could be improved about it. Therefore a tool is deve-loped especially for VATS in collaboration with two thoracic surgeons of the UMCG (Academic Medical Centre Groningen). This development has led to a proof of principle (POP). From testing this POP some points that need improvement surfaced. The one that’s the subject of this assignment is [ classified ]This design has been realized into a POP and its functioning is tested. [classified]Demcon now needs to further develop the design so it still functions when it is put inside a flexible tube. |
