| Abstract: | This is the report for Pierre-Yves Rassers’s bachelor thesis, student Industrial Design at the University of Twente in Enschede. In this report the different design phases from beginning till the end are described in the same way as they were worked out during the execution of the Bachelor assignment at Philips, Kitchen appliances in Drachten. The assignment was to create new gadgets/accessories for Philips steamers that would enable new ways of use for steamers. The gadgets/accessories can be improvements or additions to the current steamers, to increase the ease of use, but they can also be completely new. First three researches were done the find out what is possible and what went wrong or could be better with the current steamers. With the results from these researches, learning points were set up and further directions were chosen for the brainstorm session. The results from the brainstorm session were screened and ranked to retain the final concepts: Hot towels, Plate heating, Cups, Yoghurt, Flavour booster and Grill plate. These concepts were tested and with the results from these tests the concepts were updated to the final concepts. As conclusion the concepts are combined into one steamer for a better view on how all of these concepts can work together, accompanied by learning points and recommendations. |
