Abstract:The current study examines which elements of resilience appear in the BPS description from youth in youth care, and whether there is a relationships between these elements and well-being. It has been shown that there appear elements of resilience, or protective factors, in the BPS description from the individual level, the family level, and the community level. Furthermore, there has been found a positive relationship between these elements of resilience and well-being. Youth with higher well-being more often show three or more different protective factors in their description than youth with lower well-being. This research meets the need for further information on resilience among youth in youth care. Additionally, it shows that the BPS writing can be valuable for practice in several ways. Next to BPS as an intervention the writing assignment turned out to give a lot of information about the writer, and turned out to be suitable for thematic analysis to identify elements of resilience, and possibly other concepts.
