Abstract: | The discussion support system under review in this thesis is an app made to assist participants of discussions in collaborative decision making processes. Sixteen participants spread over four groups have tested the app by discussing twice; once with app and once without. A questionnaire was filled in by every participant after each discussion, with eleven questions that each represented a different aspect of the discussion. An indication of an improvement of the focus on the topic at hand by the use of the app was found. An indication of an effect of the discussion topic on the discussion effectiveness and depth of the discussion was found, as well as a significant effect of the topic on the clarity of communication flow. A structural equation model was made that represents how the questionnaire items relate to the use of the app and the discussion topic. An indication of an effect of the use of the app and the topic on group related items was found and should be investigated in a study set up to identify differences between group related and individual items. |
