Abstract: | This thesis examines the Dutch population's support for refugees. The research is important because of the insights it provides in the underlying psychological factors in helping behavior. These insights could play a role in enhancing pro social behavior towards refugees and reducing resistance and anti-social behavior. One of the most important findings is that the participants want to help refugees. This helping behavior will be increased if they know how to help them and that this helps ensure the desired outcome. This research also shows that helping behavior is more influenced by the psychological factors than the variables that are fixed, such as gender, identity and education. |
