Abstract:This research concerns effective aftercare for patients with chronic pain, because it is shown that aftercare in chronic pain has impact on patients’ satisfaction and quality of life. This study deals with the aftercare app NaDien which is used in chronic pain patients who were treated in revalidation Roessingh. NaDien is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which is considered as effective in chronic pain and other disorders. In order to measure the effectiveness and usability of the app patients from Roessingh participated in this qualitative research and agreed on a semi-structured interview about the different functions, guiding and autonomous use of the app. The analysis of the data revealed that the users evaluated NaDien as positive and effective, even though not all functions were used equally frequent, and the expectations of guidance were not always met. There were also similarities to an earlier research. NaDien can be an effective aftercare for chronic pain. In addition, it challenges patients’ autonomy in everyday life. In order to enhance the usability it is recommended to emphasize the function of the helpdesk to the patients.
