Abstract: | A research towards the influence of organisational climate on the withdrawal behaviour of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Within this study we focus on two types of organisational climate: support and justice. Through organisational support and justice climate we suggest that employee are more satisfied and show more work commitment. The research was done in two large organisations in the eastern part of the Netherlands. We can conclude that overall the women were positive towards the perceived organisational support and justice climate and therefore show satisfaction and work commitment. This lead to almost no signs of exit or withdrawal behaviour. However, there were signs of a “broader” climate outside of the organisational context. This is a climate within the society or even within the country that exists of stereotyping, bias and judgement towards women in general and women in STEM. |
