Abstract: | Heat dissipation into the ground is modelled as part of a model that has to help decrease production time and carbon dioxide emission at Tata-Steel. Finite difference methods are used to create a one-dimensional model that is used to approximate surface temperatures. The output of the model is compared with available data from Tata-Steel. A slight deviation is observed, due to comparison of two different models. However, the average error is small and therefore we conclude that a one-dimensional model is accurate enough for the purpose Tata-Steel has with it. |
