Abstract: | The Richtmeyer-Meshkov instability occurs in a number of ow application. Therefore, some experimental and numerical studies have been conducted. But during the numerical studies some simplifications are made to reduce computational time. In this paper, there is investigated what the effects are of these simplifications on the particle cloud. This will be done with two-dimensional simulations of a shockwave hitting particle cloud with a volume fraction lower than 3 %. The simulations focus on the effect of particle response time, a Gaussian distributed particle diameter, a random uniform distributed initial particle cloud and particle collisions. Al these phenomena have an effect to a varying degree on the number density distrubution, the x-location and width of the cloud |
