Abstract: | This research project proposes an architecture for the structured storage and retrieval of sensor data. While the demonstrator described has been developed in the context of Thales radar systems, different applications can be considered for certain classes of companies, specifically the ones that also deal with sensor data from many different machines and other sources. This demonstrator makes use of a distributed cluster architecture commonly associated with big data systems as well as software from the Apache Hadoop ecosystem. The requirements from Thales dealt with a few different actions that needed to be able to be performed by the end users of the system. These actions involved the ability for the system to ingest data from log files and streaming data sources, as well as the ability for end users to query and retrieve data from the distributed storage. Research has been performed in order to decompose the requirements from Thales into a set of technical problems, which were then solved by making an inventory of technologies that can deal with these problems. By implementing the demonstrator, it became possible to store sensor data and retrieve it. |
