Abstract: | This research is conducted at the Planning and Engineering department of TNT. TNT provides services for the delivery of parcels, documents and freight consignments, mainly in the business-to-business environment. TNT developed a model that is able to forecast the throughput in hubs. However, this model does not provide insight into the number of trucks that should be planned between those hubs. To assist the tactical planners, TNT wants to develop a forecast that provides the volume between locations. The goal of this forecast is to decrease the number of last-minute cancellations or ad hoc hired trucks. Moreover, such a forecast makes it easier to standardize planning procedures. |
