Phase-feedback system to correct AM-PM distortion

Abstract:
Waveguide power amplifiers systems often include waveguide to micro-strip transitions which deliver the power to an array of amplifiers without any protection against possible reflections due to impedance mismatches at the output of the system. Balanced amplifiers include components called hybrid couplers that can help preventing the amplifiers being influenced by any reflected waves. Throughout this thesis, the design of waveguide balanced amplifier designs is performed. Different waveguide topologies are studied in order to evaluate different possibilities to implement hybrid couplers and amplifier distributions, keeping the system size as reduced as possible. After the topology is selected and the hybrid couplers are designed, some amplifier systems are designed and finally simulated to study the overall system performance.
