Ouderen & problematische schulden : explorerend onderzoek naar bouwstenen voor een risicoprofiel voor 65+ huishoudens welke kans hebben op problematische schulden in de gemeente Hengelo

The municipality of Hengelo strives to develop a risk profile to identify elderly people at an early stage in order to be able to offer debt assistance. In a literature study causes were identified that can influence the development of problematic debts. Causes were categorized in to three perspectives: household characteristics, personal factors and payment arrears. Subsequently, a case study was conducted at the municipality of Hengelo, in which registrations of 65+ households who applied for debt counseling were investigated. Here, for each of the characteristics that were identified in the literature study, it was checked whether there is a significant relationship between the specific characteristic and the debt situation.
