Abstract: | Social entrepreneurship is an increasingly important concept in the field of entrepreneurship, but little research has been done. This paper examines what the influence of entrepreneurial competencies is on the degree of social entrepreneurs among Dutch entrepreneurs. The existing theory on entrepreneurship competencies is compared with the recent known theory on social entrepreneurship and associated competencies. The resulting hypotheses from the literature are tested with multiple regression analysis. The 93 validated respondents were studied to find that creativity and networking have a significant positive influence on the degree of social entrepreneurship. This study also investigated the differences between social entrepreneurs and for-profit entrepreneurs. The results from the ANOVA test showed that only the skill networking scores significantly higher for social entrepreneurs. This research contributes to the further investigation of the concept of social entrepreneurship where creativity and networking are two entrepreneurial competencies that a social entrepreneur needs to increase the degree of social entrepreneurship. |
