| Abstract: | This research describes how to improve the facility layout to reduce the distance driven with the machines. The current layout is observed to analyze the problems. Thereafter, alternative layouts have been developed by making use of the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method of Muther. The objective was to reduce the total distance driven with the machines, and lower the number of using pathways. The alternative layouts are compared based on several criteria. The layout with the highest outcome is selected. It showed that the total distance driven with machines can be decreased by 15%. |
