| Abstract: | In this bachelor thesis a pi-shaped filter for high-frequency performance was optimized. First a theory study has been performed on EMI filters. Afterwards some simulations and measurements have been performed to test certain configurations and finally a new design was proposed. This new design was as good as the original design in the region between 1 MHz and 10 MHz and significantly better performance in the region from 10 MHz to 3 GHz. This has been achieved by reducing ground inductances and reducing the coupling between components. The main performance limiting factor appeared to be the parasitic inductance in the connection between the filter and the mounting plate and further suggestions for improvement have been made. |
