Abstract:This study focuses on pre-testing the translated and simplified questionnaires named the Dweck Mindset Instrument and the Self-Efficacy Formative Questionnaire among VMBO students. This, because many of these instrument are developed by professors and tested among higher educated students and, thus, it cannot be guaranteed that these instruments can also be used on lower educated students. The process of pre-testing is done by making use of the Three-Step Test-Interview considering, this type of cognitive interviewing also makes use of behavioral observations which in turn, can be very helpful when pre-testing among adolescents. This, because adolescents are not used to thinking out loud, and thus behavioral observation may be necessary to get the information needed.
