Abstract:The company this thesis is executed for is a corporation of approximately 2500 potato farmers, which core business is making starch and protein products out of potatoes. In order to do so, this company has production plants and warehouses in Germany, Sweden and The Netherlands to fulfill the customer demands all over the world. This is done by approximately 1350 employees. The Swedish warehouse needs to close since the government wants to build houses at that location. Therefore, this thesis answers the question: “Which warehouse should be rent when the Swedish warehouse needs to close?”. In order to determine this optimal new warehouse location, semi-structured individual in depth interview are conducted. This resulted in using the operationalized criteria costs (split in fixed and variable costs) and CO2 emission caused by transportation. Besides, a systematic literature review to provide an overview of the different facility location models is executed. Based on this study the uncapacitated fixed charge facility location model is implemented to determine the total costs of the different warehouse scenarios.
