Abstract:Precisie Metaal (PM) is a company that produces high-precision linear and rotating bearings and positioning systems for, amongst others, the semi-conductor industry. PM experiences a too low On-Time Delivery Performance (OTDP). Over 2018 the OTDP was 80.3% and is still decreasing. The desired OTDP to keep customers satisfied, is 95%. Currently PM creates its production schedules by only considering the machine capacity as a resource constraint. In reality however, workers are an additional resource constraint. Besides, many production processes require a lot of set-up time, which result in long lead times. To create production schedules that are more realizable, and thus improve the OTDP we create a scheduling algorithm that includes both the machine and the worker capacity constraints and also aims to minimize the required set-up time. We compare the performance of multiple scheduling algorithms.
