Abstract:The paper documents the creation and experimentation process as it relates to the balance between the educational content and the subjective enjoyability of the Hengelo Escape Room. The paper furthermore explores the potential relationship between educational content and subjective enjoyment and attempts to find the point when educational content begins to diminish participant enjoyment. The Hengelo Escape room's various iterations was used to test the relationship of these factors on various subjects. The paper finds that enjoyment does not seem impacted by the educational content, though methodological problems does not allow this result to be generalized.
