Abstract: | This thesis aims to measure and to explain the feelings and perceptions of safety of asylum seekers in the Dutch asylum procedure. However no permission could be granted of the relevant Dutch governmental organisation in order to collect data for this purpose. Therefore data was collected on the base of a simulation making use of a questionnaire measuring these feelings and perceptions amongst 33 respondents. The data collected via the questionnaire was displayed and analysed making use of the Kruskal-Wallis H Test in order to identify explanatory factors for the feelings and perceptions of safety of the respondents based on environmental and socio-demographic factors. Based on the analysis could be concluded that no inclusive explanation could be given for the feelings and perceptions of safety of the respondents, but that the feeling of being welcomed by the Dutch population plays a significant role in this. |
