Abstract:During this internship at Schrader T+A Fahrzeugbau I was a project manager. Schrader T+A Fahrzeugbau is a family business which is in the 3rd generation right now. The business produces trailers for transport of mineral oils and other liquids. In Germany there are 2 facilities, one focused on mineral oil trailers built with aluminum and the other facility focused on other, more specialized trailer build from stainless steel. The initial assignment has to be carried out while managing other projects and people at the same time. The main assignment was to redesign a production process related to pre-treatment for welding compartments and compartment walls. In the report the whole production process of the tank itself is documented. The focus is laid on the edge preparation for welding different cylinders together and putting compartment walls in. Preparing a weld is very important for the quality of the weld. The current process takes too long and involves bad working positions for the employees. Therefor an automation will lower production times and improve working conditions. In improving the production process TRIZ is used to find problems and determine improvements. TRIZ is a very structured approach to find solution in a lot of different ranges. From this problem solving method different solution are found and concepts are generated. These concept were evaluated within the company and discussed with different people that work in the process. In the end 2 different prototypes were designed but unfortunately no final design has been build in the time.
