Abstract: | Alcohol abuse is one of the biggest causes of preventable deaths, therefore development of a tool that can help prevent alcohol abuse and aid in reducing alcohol abuse, can be beneficial to the global health of the worlds population. In this thesis, a project is described that is aimed at collecting data, that could be indicators of alcohol intoxication. The project consists of an application that can be installed on a smartphone, which when used will unobtrusively collect data. The project makes extensive use of the data that is typed on the smartphone keyboard. It is designed to respect the user’s privacy, and only extracts meta data from typed characters. Besides typing sensors, acceleration is also tracked to see if this can indicate alcohol intoxication. |
