Abstract: | Product developing companies strive for increasing Product Development (PD) capabilities. However, maturity audits for PD processes in specific are not utilized in industry and knowledge on PD optimization is limited. Theoretical and practical knowledge are required for optimizing them, since effectiveness and efficiency are context dependent. Consequently, optimization projects involve complex multi-criteria decisions. Their highest objective is increased company success, which is theoretically underpinned in a developed vision on maturity. A PDMO concept model is designed, which provides insights in maturity factors within a company context and allows deliberate selection of one process to focus upon for effective and efficient optimization. If PD process optimization is required, a designed PDPMA concept model proposes change towards a PD process structure which is tailored to the company context by reconfiguring parts of existing process structuring artefacts. Both concept models form a starting point of future possibilities regarding PD maturity optimization in industry. |
