Abstract: | China is currently going through a fast urban transition which pace has triggered a plethora of serious social problems, for instance, an increasing amount of traffic congestions. The government has been working on the dilution of the traffic congestion problem in diverse ways and Smart City (SC) strategy is emerging as a new potential solution. The objective of this research is to analyze how SC strategy can contribute to reducing traffic congestion and indirectly achieve sustainable development in Shenzhen. By assessing the activities of related stakeholders of SC (e.g. government, enterprise and local citizen) from the perspective of policy, technology and public participation concerning the traffic jam issue, practical implementation process and effectiveness of SC strategy will be explored, in order to give recommendations to related actors for effective construction of SC to mitigate traffic congestion in the future. |
