Abstract: | Design of a distribution network in which products are distributed in a central DC and delivered at retailers. For most of the transport, depots serve as an intermediary for the transport. Networks are generated using heuristics, which attempt to solve a retailer-depot allocation problem and afterwards a multi-depot vehicle routing problem. Experiments are conducted with a varying demand and different combinations of depots available. Multiple scenarios are analysed and compared using normalized and weighted key performance indicators. Solutions are also visualized to provide insights for all concerned stakeholders. |
