Abstract: | Apollo Vredestein manufactures and sells high quality tyres. To be able to compete, it is crucial for Apollo Vredestein to improve their efficiency and with that lower the costs per tyre. To achieve both lower costs per tyre and a higher throughput, we decided to improve performance by following the concept called Theory of Constraints. We executed the first three steps of the process of ongoing improvement. We set up a bottleneck identification process and identified the current bottleneck. We performed a root cause analysis and defined a focus of improvement for the bottleneck machine. We also present options to improve the accuracy of the inventory and we discussed inventory control policies, so that Apollo Vredestein can ensure that the machine has the right materials at the right time. |
