Abstract: | This research aims to help the management of a company in olive oil products decrease transportation and ordering costs of their cornerstone product range. Quantity discounts are available but not utilized efficiently. An easy to use Excel tool is constructed which minimizes a cost function based on the dynamic lot-size model over multiple periods using deterministic dynamic programming. The two resulting schedules can be used to substantiate logistics decisions. Deterministic demand is determined with demand forecasting using the triple exponential smoothing technique. This step is integrated into the tool. |
