Improving the line performance of packaging line 41 at Heineken Zoeterwoude : a case study at Heineken

Author(s): Habets, R.J. (2019)

Abstract:
At Heineken, the machinery on packaging lines 41 and 42 should work as efficiently as possible to ensure high performance. However, this packaging process stops due to (external) failures, starvations or blockages. Therefore, this study aimed to improve current efficiency by reducing the core bottleneck. Line optimization methodologies have been reviewed in the literature. Regarding the scope, the main losses and effects have been identified by these data-collection and -analysis methods. A simulation model has been constructed to find an alternative solution regarding this data. Based on the results, Heineken should implement all modifications in its packaging process to increase performance.
