Abstract:The ZGT hospital wants to become a ‘moving hospital’, a hospital in which patients are constantly motivated to be physically active. A previous conducted study determined which interventions best suited the hospital in completing their journey. However, doubts were raised about whether implementation of these interventions would be successful in the current healthcare process. The aim of this study is therefore to identify (perceived) barriers that would prevent successful implementation and provide the hospital with advice about how to remove or to lower these barriers as much as possible. The Managerial Problem-Solving Method was used as guidance. The problems; ‘Difference in beliefs about which activities are physical activity’ and ‘Unwillingness and fearfulness of relatives to support physical activity’ were investigated in a focus group. There were three categories identified during the coding of the focus group, which describe the current situation, enfold measures taken and measures that can be taken in order to find solutions for the two problems. These categories were; ‘Involvement’, ‘Knowledge’, and ‘Stimulation’. The hospital is not yet ready to become a moving hospital. Additional steps are required to ensure successful implementation. A top-down approach should be used when implementing a mission and vision regarding the ‘moving hospital’ hospital wide.
