Abstract:GGNet recognizes the possibilities that online treatment offers and has therefore made the strategic decision to start with a 100% digital clinic for basic mental healthcare this year. However, there are major challenges to secure successful implementation of the digital clinic in routine mental healthcare. Exploring the expectations of professionals and clients can give a better understanding of how stakeholders can be best facilitated. Qualitative research methods were applied by conducting semi-structured interviews among twelve professionals, five clients and two management members. It appeared that professionals and clients expect the digital clinic to have meaningful qualities with significant added value, but also unfavorable qualities which emphasize the downsides. Nevertheless, both professionals and clients are willing to participate in the digital clinic. However, clients would also like to maintain face-to-face contact with their practitioner. Their engagement in a 100% online treatment is low. In addition, professionals emphasize that clients should be able to choose which care suits them. For the clients in this study, this seems to be blended care. To achieve successful implementation of the digital clinic in routine mental healthcare, effort is required to increase the willingness to engage among stakeholders and to meet preconditions for optimal use.
