Abstract: | Transistor sizes produced by the semiconductor industry have by now reached the sub-10 nanometer range. One type of nanoscale transistors currently under heavy research is the carbon nanotube, a rolled-up version of graphene. In this paper, the quantum mechanical treatment of electronic transport in a nanotube transistor is described. Results from quantum mechanics, solid-state physics, electrostatics and numerical analysis are combined into a computer model to obtain a self-consistent solution. Simulations are run which demonstrate the validity of the model. |
