Abstract: | Communication between software engineers and non-software engineers is often rough. But this communication is getting more and more important in today's world. To improve this communication there should be made more awareness towards solutions. A solution for this problem could be software modelling. Therefore, the research question is How do we make students more aware of modelling and software design? To answer this question a prototype was designed. This designing process was done by following the Creative Technology Design Process. The prototype consists of a workshop on modelling and software design. This workshop consists of lectures based around examples, card exercises, and feedback sessions. The card exercise is the main focus of the workshop. The card exercise is about selecting different themed cards which combined should help generate an idea. This idea then will be used to create a model as explained in the lectures. When evaluating this prototype with the help of interviews, surveys and analysing the requirements, it became clear that the prototype was a success. However, the prototype was not yet fully tested. This research was a good starting on finding a way to improve the communication between software engineers and non-software engineers, however, there is still a lot of future research to be done. For instance, further developing and testing this implementation. |
