Abstract: | The goal of this research was the validation of the applicability of the calculation tool for reproducible calculations of CNC machined parts and the development of best practices for the deployment of the tool for categories of work piece geometries and categories of metal operations. The calculation tool serves as a connection point where the physical machining of precision milled or turned parts and 3D model world meet. As such is this research part of the smart industry in NTS Norma. NTS Norma designs, produces and assembles complete mechatronic systems. The core strength of NTS Norma is in its vast experience in the field of ultra-precision operations. This company enjoys a unique position worldwide when it comes to precision machining and ultra-precision modules. The company is one of the few companies in the world that can guarantee accuracy of less than one-thousandth of a millimeter. Over the last 25 years, NTS has accumulated the skills, capabilities and know-how to develop and manufacture precision systems for the high-tech industry. The systems that are developed and build are used in semiconductor, life sciences, and digital printing industries. And carry out mostly handling, transfer and positioning processes for which the optomechatronic and mechanical know-how of NTS is beneficial. The research was conducted in the company´s engineering department. The department consists of experienced engineers, who specialize in disciplines like mechanics, physics, electronics and automation engineering. Some of the engineers work for building and maintaining the tool database. Others are making new designs and improving the existing ones. |
