Abstract:Rijnstate has developed a long-term digital strategy with different ambitions and goals. These are translated into digital healthcare innovations. One of them is the use of video consultations for medical purposes. This study focuses on the implementation process of video consultation, its effects on stakeholder groups, and differences between medical specialties. A mixed-method study was performed by conducting interviews with staff members and distributing surveys to patients. The Grounded Theory Approach was used for qualitative analysis. ANOVA tests were used to determine differences among patient groups. Smart PLS was used to develop an extension on the UTAUT model. Barriers and facilitating aspects for the implementation are appointed to stakeholders. An overview is provided with the effects. Differences between the experienced benefits vary significantly between patients from different medical specialties. In the extended UTAUT model performance expectancy, affect towards behavior, and anxiety are found as significant influencing factors for behavioral intention. Clear protocols should be developed and the usability for patient groups has to be determined. A list of mentioned technological issues is provided. An increase in familiarity will support the implementation and use. Finally, personal support and a regular assessment of problems and needs appear to be important aspects.
