Abstract: | Greenfield project of facility layout planning for wind turbine manufacturing plant is a complex problem. Along with the layout planning, it is essential to analyze the layout performance before implementing it. The study aims in developing a framework of methodologies that will help in layout planning and alternate generations based on design interventions. Then the selection of the best performing layout is done based on quantitative (production) and qualitative parameters. The research uses systematic layout planning (SLP) by Muther (2015) for layout planning and alternative generation. Subsequently, the layout performance is analyzed for the quantitative parameters using the Simulation methodology by Law (2015). The qualitative analysis is done by using Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) by Saaty (1980). Later the results of both the analysis are integrated to select the best layout plan using a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM). The SLP methodology is adapted with the line balancing of the production processes using the design data and the simulation experiments are used for bottleneck analysis for capacity planning of the layout and to determine the number of stations to achieve the production target. |
