Abstract: | Scania Production Zwolle (SPZ) builds a large variety of trucks. Some of these trucks are especially long and cause output loss in production. This study proposes a new assembly line layout to reduce the output loss incurred due to long trucks. A new line layout requires an assembly line balance of the tasks performed on the line. The problem is mathematically modelled and solved using heuristic and meta-heuristic methods. The results of the study are used to comment on the impact of the new assembly line design and its feasibility. |
