Abstract:This bachelor assignment deals with the fabrication of metamaterials through 3D-printing. The Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) process of 3D-printing is used to create metamaterials which are able to anisotropically conduct current. The effect of different printing parameters in the 3D-printing process on the strength of the anisotropic conduction is studied and tested experimentally. The resulting conduction characteristics are measured through voltage probing, microscopy and infra-red thermography. Finally, the assignment concludes with examples of how the results can be applied to fabricate metamaterials.
