Abstract:The information system architecture must be vertically integrated to support the company in monitoring, controlling, and improving its manufacturing performance. The MES-system should utilize real-time data to monitor and control operations. A big data platform with a BI-tool as a front should be developed to perform historical analytics on the gathered data. Modern technologies create and rely on data, so gathering and utilizing data is the key to make new industry 4.0 technologies accessible. The manufacturing environment should be transformed into an industrial internet of things (IIoT) to create smart manufacturing.
