Abstract:Two questions are central to this study: How does self-organization at team level affect the achievement of financial goals? Which elements of risk management fit with team-level self-organization to achieve financial goals? The main results of this study are: No scientific literature was found describing risk management in the context of self-organization; It has been determined that there is a relationship between the introduction of self-organization at team level and the failure to meet financial goals; Four possible interventions have been described that are expected to have a positive effect on both the process of self-organization at team level and the financial goals. Due to the limitations of the study, researcher welcomes discussion and further research. Research into (1) the expected effectiveness of elements of risk management in a different context and into (2) other elements of risk management in the context of self-organization and into (3) the findings from this study in the context of self-organization at other organizations in long-term care sector or even in other sectors. The lack of focused scientific literature on risk management in the context of self-organization deserves discussion. It could be that for the effectiveness of risk management it makes no difference in what kind of structural context it is implemented. But it could also be that risk management can be more or less effective precisely in the context of self-organization. In either case, further research is relevant. It could possibly lead to a framework for risk management in the context of self-organization.
