Abstract: | This study investigates the value effect of big data in the financial services field for publicly listed firms operating in the United States. Big data is a relatively new technology that has become more and more popular in the last 10 years. In this study it is investigated how big data can add value, this is done by testing the impact on financial firm performance and market value. There is a lot of literature about firm performance and big data but few studies follow the same methodology and data collection method that is used in this study, this study, therefore, tries to contribute to the current literature. The practical contribution of this study is that it tries to provide new insights for firms that are thinking about implementing big data but are not convinced of the potential benefits yet. Additionally, this study provides new future research directions as well. |
